User guide · Assets
Timing, transitions, sounds, and AI cutouts.
The Assets tab is the source of truth for when a cutout or 3D model appears, how it animates, and which sound plays. Special Effects on the left rail repeats those controls (grayed until a route cutout or model is placed). Free accounts get 2 AI cutouts; Pro unlocks more cutouts and Pro stock. 3D models themselves live on Stock — click to park at map center, then optionally attach to a Path.
01List, Start Frame, Duration
- Click Assets on the left rail.
- Find the placed cutout (stock or AI) in Your cutouts.
- Set Start Frame (0 is the beginning of the clip; the timeline is 30 fps, so frame 30 is 1 second).
- Set Duration (Frames), or leave it blank to keep the asset until the end.
- Click Extend 30-Day in the last 30 days of a saved cutout’s 90-day retention.
02Transition
- On the cutout row, open the Transition menu.
- Choose None, Fade In, Pop In, Fade Out, or Fade In & Out.
- Click Play to preview (wait ~15 seconds the first time).
03Sound
- On the same row, open Sound.
- Choose None, Explosion, Splash, or Whoosh.
- Sounds play with the cutout during Play and in the exported MP4.
If More looks empty or you cannot find sounds there, use Assets or Special Effects. Transition and Sound are on each cutout row, not in the More menu.
04Special Effects (left rail)
Special Effects is the tab after Assets. It lists time, transitions, and sound in chevron groups. The whole panel stays grayed until a cutout or 3D model is attached to a route on the map.
- Place a stock or AI cutout, or click a 3D model on Stock (it parks at center). Optional: Draw → Path and attach it.
- Click Special Effects on the left rail (FX in the diagram above).
- Open Adding Time Controls to set Start Frame and Duration.
- Open Add Transitions to Assets, then Add Sound Effects.
- Click Play to preview. The same values also live on the Assets cutout row.
05Request an AI cutout
- Sign in to your 3DMaps.app account.
- Click Assets, then expand AI Cutout if it is collapsed.
- Click Upload Video and choose an MP4, WebM, or MOV.
- Type a Subject prompt such as fighter jet or scuba diver.
- Check AI Cutouts Remaining (Free starts at 2).
- Click AI Magic: Remove Background. Keep this panel open — typical AI time is 20–30 seconds; jobs can run up to about 4 minutes.
- When the row says Added to Assets, click Add to map (or Stock for 3D). Cutouts can also attach from Draw → Path.
06Credits, Free vs Pro, Pricing
- Free: 2 AI cutouts and free stock only (green Free badge). The watermark stays on.
- Paid (Day Pass, Creator, Lifetime, Pro): Pro-only stock clips, more cutouts, priority processing, and the option to turn the watermark off in More → Settings.
- Out of credits: the button becomes Upgrade to Unlock More Cutouts and opens checkout.
- Have a partner or lifetime-deal code? Open /redeem (also linked from Pricing and the footer). Example format MAP-SUMO-XXXX-XXXX.
Full plan copy: Pricing. Step-by-step redeem: Redeem a code.
Example: explosion pop-in
- Click Assets on the left rail.
- Find the placed cutout.
- Set Start Frame to 45 (1.5s at 30 fps).
- Set Transition to Pop In.
- Set Sound to Explosion.
- Click Play and wait — do not assume it is stuck for the first ~15 seconds.
