Data we collect
We collect information in these categories:
- Account data — email address, display name, and authentication identifiers when you sign in with email/password or Google.
- Project content — map project names, country or region selections, flag settings, badges, drawings, text, and related editor preferences you choose to save.
- Usage & device data — pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP (via analytics), browser/device type, and performance events through Google Analytics.
- Export & render data — composition inputs needed to render your video, render IDs, progress status, and temporary or stored output files in Google Cloud Storage associated with Remotion Cloud Run.
- Map provider requests — map tile and geocoding requests sent to Mapbox so the globe and place search can function. Mapbox may process IP address and request metadata under its own policies.
How we use data
We use personal data to:
- Create and secure your account
- Save and reload your map projects
- Render and deliver exported videos
- Operate, debug, and improve 3dmaps.app
- Understand aggregate product usage
- Comply with law and protect against abuse
We do not use your map projects to train public AI models, and we do not sell personal information.
Service providers & processors
We rely on trusted infrastructure providers. Each processes data under its own terms and security controls:
- Google Firebase — Authentication, Firestore project storage, Hosting
- Google Analytics — site and product analytics (measurement ID configured in the app)
- Mapbox — maps, geocoding, and related location services
- Google Cloud / Remotion Cloud Run — video rendering and export file storage

Retention & security
Account and saved project data are kept while your account remains active and for a reasonable period afterward if needed for backups, dispute resolution, or legal compliance. Render outputs may be stored in cloud buckets until deleted or lifecycle policies remove them.
We use industry-standard provider security (encryption in transit, access-controlled cloud projects). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; please use a strong unique password and protect your devices.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live (including California and the EEA/UK), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal data, or to object to certain processing. You can:
- Update profile details through your auth provider where available
- Delete or edit saved projects in the dashboard when signed in
- Use the contact form (Privacy / data topic) to request account deletion or a copy of data we hold
We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. If you use Google sign-in, some profile fields are controlled in your Google account settings.
Children
3dmaps.app is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child provided data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the product or laws change. We will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes may also be highlighted in the product or by email when appropriate.
